A Review of the Studies on the Taxonomy of Negation in China
This paper focuses on the taxonomy of negation,sketches its studies in China and makes comments on them.The taxonomy of negation in China as formulated in earlier studies takes the form of three dichotomies:(i)semantic negation versus pragmatic negation;(ii)ordinary negation versus the negation of implicature;(iii)direct negation versus indirect negation.The paper will sketch the three dichotomies in order.The comments are made from the perspectives of contributions and limitations.
