A Psychosocial Analysis on Holden Caulfields Identity Crisis in The Catcher in the Rye
J.D.Salingers novel The Catcher in the Rye is considered as one of the modern classics in the post-war American literature gallery.From the psychosocial perspective,this paper,by employing Eriksons theory of the psychosocial development stages and identity crisis,intends to analyze the protagonist Holden Caulfields identity crisis in connection with the social,political and economic background,and reveal conflicts between the crisis and regeneration so as to attract peoples attention to their spiritual awareness and fulfillment.
