A Revelation from the Comparative Analysis of English and Chinese Word-formation

The emergence of new words into language reflects human conceptualization of the objective world according to cognitive linguistics,and the new words are created by the interaction between human inner cognition and stimuli from the outer world.In modern times,drastic shifts of social,political and economic situations,rapid development in science and technology,great changes in human life style and ways of thinking,and constant influence of other cultures and languages provide continuous stimuli for the human brain so that innumerous new lexical items are created as a result of human conceptualization,which is one of the major means that the brain process the outer stimuli.
