Application of Chunk Theory in Practical Writing Teaching
Chunk of language is a type of language prefabrication module,and a semantic unit between traditional vocabulary and grammar.It integrates the traditional morphology,syntax,form and function,and has a relatively fixed grammatical structure,a stable mix of meaning and a specific pragmatic context,stored and used as a whole.Practical writing is a practical style.Its language expression has distinctive features of the stylized language,whose expression unit is chunk.Teachers should take full advantage of the chunk theory in practical writing teaching,cultivate students sensitivity towards the stylized language chunk,focus on the teaching of typical chunks,and attempt to improve students ability to apply chunks.To emphasize and strength the chunk teaching is an effective way and method to improve the quality and efficiency of teaching practical writing.
