An Empirical Study of Teaching English Writing for Non-English Majors from the Perspective of the Contrastive Linguistics

  This paper tries to uncover the effectiveness of teaching the linguistic differences between English and Chinese via analyzing students English compositions,which are written before and after the composition teaching,after the survey of 39 first-year non-English majors in a university in Shaanxi Province.The apparent L1 transfers in learners writings were found in the empirical study.There are significant effects in improving the accuracy and native-likeness of their works through introducing the differences of the two languages to them.
