A Simulation Analyze of Abrasive Jet Polishing Based on Negative Pressure Cavitation Effect
A novel method of fluid polishing with micro abrasives based on the negative pressure cavitation (NPC) effect is proposed. The atmospheric pressure environment is replaced by a negative pressure container to enhance the cavitation and erosion force of micro abrasives fluid.Micro abrasive jet polishing (AJP) process and the removal mechanism based on NPC effect are studied. The influences of technological parameters, such as injection pressure, abrasive concentration, standoff distance, inclination angle, on the shear force are analyzed and simulated by using the multiphase flow model of Fluent software. The analytical results show that the micro AJP based on NPC effect can get the better surface quality of the optical components, but the excessive vacuum will weaken the cavitation effect and make the surface roughness worse.
