Study on the Consumption Structure of Regions in China Based on Quantile Regression
In this paper, based the descriptive statistical analysis of consumption expenditure of urban households by region, we found the distribution of the data set was leptokurtic and right-skewed. The classical ordinary least square method was limited in use. Then, by the technique of quantile regression, we studied on the relationship among the independent variables (Disposable Income Food, Health Care and Medical Services, Housing, Education) and dependent variable (Consumption Expenditure), and drew a conclusion that the difference of the consumption structure in different regions was significant. Finally, we promoted the conclusion to individuals at the different income level, and proposed several reasonable suggestions.
