Labor flowing into modern sectors and the long-term unemployment rate in China
Different from previous studies that solely concern about the migration of labor from country to city, this paper has focused on the relationship between the labor markets double structure transition and the long-term unemployment rate in China. Based on Granger-causality test, a regression analysis has been carried out in order to assess whether there is any potential predictability of the structural change for the unemployment rate. The result shows that the structural change of economy with labor flowing into modern sectors has a positive effect on lowering the unemployment rate.
