The Analysis of the Influence of the Idiosyncratic Knowledge has on the Choice of Family Business Successor
The knowledge of the family businesses is often highly idiosyncratic, but the appropriation risks brought by the idiosyncratic knowledge are not one way. In the case where family businesses choose agents as their successors, the Compensation and Benefits(C&B) negotiations between family businesses and agents with the idiosyncratic knowledge of family businesses, are those of bilateral monopoly pricing* under complete information. The C&B level is decided by the bargaining skills of the two parties. The range within which the two parties bargain is given. The determinant of choosing an agent or a family offspring as a successor is transaction cost rather than the appropriation risks.
