Professional Development of Foreign Language Teachers and Teacher Autonomy
The paper attempts to. explore how to achieve professional development of foreign language teachers by means of teacher autonomy. First, the paper defines teacher autonomy as the ability to develop appropriate skills, knowledge and attitudes for oneself as a teacher. Second, the paper points out that the lack of teacher autonomy hinders the foreign language teachers professional development, finally coming to the conclusion that to promote teacher development, foreign language teachers from China are expected to cultivate teacher autonomy by means of reflective practice and action research.
