The Problems Analysis on the Lay-offs in the Enterprises during the Economic Crisis
This article uses the research methods of Empirical research and literature analysis. It introduces that many enterprises are in trouble because of the current global economic crisis derived from the subprime mortgage made by the United States. More and more enterprises have to reduce labor costs by eliminating jobs or reducing salaries. If the lay-off is not handled properly, it may cause anxieties in the enterprise, increase the degree of risk, force the employees and the clients to leave, which can made hard-hits to the enterprise. To solve the problem, this article offers some alternative measures of lay-offs, such as encouraging early retirement of older employees and reducing operating costs. The article also offers some measures for the enterprises when they have to cut their jobs. The measures are: the senior managers must show the plight of the enterprise to the employees firstly and establish a decision-making term which plan and prepare for lay-offs, decide the lay-off list and the compensation standard of the workers being laid off, the enterprises must pay great attention to communication of lay-offs and provide psychological help and vocational skills training or encourage them to start their own venture, the enterprises also need to develop a detailed program of re-employment, and some qualified enterprises may be introduced to accept the Employee Assistant Program (EAP).
