One Step Forward toward Learner Autonomy -Integrating Project-based CALL into College English Teaching
1 Introduction 1.1 Theoretical background As the evolution of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) has made a wide range of applications in keeping with modern theories of language learning and current pedagogic trends over the past two decades, an explosion of interest has been witnessed in developing learner autonomy by integrating the multimedia network-based computer into language learning process (Lynch, B. K. 2000; Gu, P. Y. 2002). One of the positive outcomes of the wide-use of multimedia network-based computer is that it provides possibilities for much more integrated uses of technology as an ongoing process of English language learning and use, rather than visiting the computer-lab for isolated exercises, contributing, to a certain extent, to the development of autonomous language teaching and learning in EFL/ESL education.
