Reflections on Corpus-based College English Teaching
1 Introduction In 2007, the revised edition of “College English Curriculum Requirements was published by the Ministry of Education, which states “colleges and universities should remould the existing unitary teacher-centered pattern of language teaching by introducing computer- and classroom-based teaching models. The new model should be built on modern information technology, particularly network technology, so that English language teaching and learning will be, to a certain extent, free from the constraints of time or place and geared towards students’ individualized and autonomous learning (the Ministry of Education, 2007. 25 ). Undoubtedly, computerbased English teaching model, characterized by individualized and autonomous learning, will soon become the new trend.
