A Cognitive Perspective to Intertextuality in L2 Writing

1 Introduction This article is concerned with cognitive patterns of textual cohesion and intertextuality in the PKU students essays. It analyzes (a threeyear collection of essays of PKU students) essays written on final exams by the nonEnglish majors, undergraduates of Peking University; a couple of testers may check and review the writing contents and structures while purposefully recording the main points concerned. In terms of materials, all the titles of chosen essays must be quite similar to those of the textbooks in use.
