Multimodality in CDs Attached to English Textbooks

1 Introduction Nowadays English teaching and learning has been given much attention in China. The market of English teaching materials is very lively. With the development of technology and peoples awareness of multimodality, there is a new trend for the English teaching materials to attach CD-ROMs which integrate a variety of different modes, such as typed words, voice recordings, video clips, etc. , to add more attraction. Another reason for this new trend is the low cost for making CD-ROMs. Publishers don’t pay very much to get a multimedia package which makes their products look advanced and of high quality.
