Thoughts on Chinas College English Reform and Textbook Development
Ⅰ In the last century, the College English Education in China has experienced its revival in 70s followed by its rapid re-institutionalization in the 80s and diversified expansion in the 90s. In the beginning years of the new millennium, we as English language teachers are confronted with greater challenges and opportunities unprecedented in the history of EFL education in the country. During the past 30 years or so, great economic advancement and social changes have been made in the country, thanks to the reform and opening-up polices. Now, after the success of 2008 Beijing Olympics and the first-ever spacewalk program by Shenzhou-7, which have further promoted Chinas image as one of the leading nations in the world, China will certainly play an even more active role in the world politics and economy in the years to come.
