Empirical Analysis on Fruit Farmers Selection of the Type of Cooperation Partners on Supply Chain in Beijing Suburbs
Adopting supply chain management to fruits produced in Beijing suburbs may be one of the effective ways to enhance the income of fruit farmers in Beijing and promote the development of modern suburb agriculture. Based on the survey of fruit farmers in Beijing suburbs and using the disordered multinomial logistic model, the authors analyzed factors affecting fruit farmers behaviour of choosing cooperators including the characteristics of fruit farmers in Beijing suburbs and the product markets. The results show that factors such as the risk attitude of fruit farmers, the operating time of fruits, the scale of fruit gardens, and the ratio of income from fruit production to the total family income have significant effects on fruit farmers selection of cooperator type. In contrast with dealers different factors have different influences on fruit farmers to choose cooperating organizations, businesses and wholesale markets. Finally, the paper puts forward some suggestions of supply chain management such as laying emphasis on rural human capital, improving the extent of farmer systematization, boosting earnings of the cooperation on the supply chain by differentiated positioning, and increasing inputs of public goods, which will help exploit the advantages of fruit industry in Beijing suburb.
