Students’Perceptions of the Effect of Interaction in Web-based Courses on Student Outcomes
This study explores the effect of interaction in Web-based courses on student outcomes with student characteristics being considered.A learner-centered social constructivism approach has been adopted as the theoretical framework.The study analyzes data collected with the NHCE (New Horizon College English)Electronic Learning Environment Survey.The subjects are 288 undergraduates enrolled in a web-based English course at the School of Foreign Languages,ShanghaiJiaotong University. Quantitative analysis,Qualitative analysis,as well as structural and content analysis,have been performed to answer the research question.The overall regression findings point to the necessity to examine student characteristics and interaction when student outcomes are assessed.
