Technology Competence and Participation in Web-based Education
The purpose of this study is to examine the computer competencies that adult learners enrolled in Web-based courses at a Midwestern research university find necessary for successful completion of Web courses. In addition, the study examines whether computer competence relates to intent to continue taking Web-based courses. The results indicate that there is no relationship between level of computer competence and intent to continue taking Web courses; however students continue to struggle with completion of assignments and managing time when taking Web courses.
