Design of Metamaterial Absorber and Its Integration into the Fiber Composites
Wave-absorbing materials are usually applied in the radar-stealth air vehicles.In recent years,the integration of wave-absorbing and load-bearing for the composites arouses great interests in the research field.In this study,a new kind of electromagnetic wave-absorbing composite was proposed.Several layers of glass fiber/epoxy composite,carbon fiber/epoxy composite and polymethacrylimide(PMI)foam were included in the composite.And the metamaterial layer was integrated in-to the composite material to achieve the goal of wave-absorbing function.In the whole process,a metamaterial absorber was designed first and it finally showed 99.9%wave absorptivity at 10.5 GHz.After the integration of metamaterial absorber into the composite,the whole structural panel could still have 99.9%wave absorptivity,which proves the effectiveness of the de-sign and fabrication of this kind of composite material.
