Preparation and Performance of Stretchable Conductive Composite Yarn

  Wearable electronic textiles are a new field that integrates electronic and textile technology.Conductive yarn,as a basic material connecting fibers and fabrics,greatly determines the flexibility and comfort of electronic textile garments.Tra-ditional conductive yarns such as metallic yarns cannot adapt to the large deformation of the human body,and the conductive properties of the conductively treated yarns are unstable.Therefore,in this study,conductive elastic yarns are made of metal-lic-yarn and elastic yarn,expected to be used as wearable electronic textiles.In order to obtain flexible and stretchable con-ductive yarns,spandex and copper wires are used as the core yarn and wrapping yarn respectively by using a self-made sam-ple wrapping machine in the laboratory.It was observed that the core yarn(spandex),showed a gradual increment in tension on the existing spinning equipment,resulting in uneven wrapping twists in the post-spinning process,affecting the wrapping yarn structural stability.It is proposed to optimize the process based on the original sample wrapping machine to make the core yarn evenly tensioned during the spinning process to obtain a conductive composite yarn with a stable twist.Subsequent-ly,the 2000-twist conductive composite yarn obtained in the above steps was tested for resistance stability during the tensile strength test.According to the results,the 2000-twist conductive composite yarn elongation can reach 300%,the resistance change rate does not exceed 5%,with excellent stretchability and conductivity stability,which can well adapt to the large de-formation of the human body and be applied to the development of smart wearable electronic textiles in the future.
