Modeling the Geometric Structure of Woven Fabrics Through Parameterization

  Fabric modeling was a subject of extensive research,dedicated to the restoration of fabric geometry.This article ex-plores the modeling of plain,twill and satin woven fabrics by using SolidWorks software.The geometry of the model referred to the real fabric,the yarn trajectory at the interweaving point was represented by a sinusoidal curve,and the floating line was extended by a straight line.The arrangement of the yarns in the fabric was transformed into the spatial arrangement of el-liptical geometry.Fabric structure parameters were introduced and mathematical model was structured to determine spatial po-sition and function expression of the yarn axis lines,generating yarn entities along the yarn axis lines to define an accurate and true three-dimensional geometric model.The physical parameters of the fabrics,such as thickness,density of warp/weft yarns,could be imported into a variety of simulation software according to the requirement of simulation including the me-chanical behavior of the fabric and the liquid capillary diffusion in fabric.
