Oil/Water Separation of Weft-Knitted Spacer Fabrics Integrated with Silica Aerogels by Sol-Gel Method
The intrigue in multifunctional textile materials has been expanded due to the wellbeing care and security of living creatures in severer conditions.Therefore,the work investigated the oil/water separation efficiency of weft-knitted spacer fab-rics with top performance;silica aerogels(SAs)coating demands special consideration.SAs were prepared by the sol-gel method and connected to the spacer fabrics to change the surface.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)of untreated and treated spacer fabrics were analyzed to describe the surface and physical properties and to understand the influence of SAs on the fabrics.The results indicated that the treated weft-knitted spacer fabrics showed excellent oil separation efficiency from 95%to 97.5%for a selection of oil/water mixtures.Hence,these kinds of fabrics are appropriate for the industrial applica-tion of oil/water separation properties.
