Effect of Carbon Fiber Surface Treatment on the Mechanical Properties of CFPP Composites Molded by the DFFIM Technology

In the present study, the effect of carbon fiber surface treatment on the mechanical and interface properties of the sized and de-sized carbon fiber reinforced polypropylene(CFPP)composites molded by the DFFIM technology, was studied and analyzed.Their dynamic mechanical properties were investigated by the Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer(DMA)test. In order to gain the comprehensive insight of the failure mechanism of the tested specimens,SEM images were taken from the broken part and analyzed in detail. The results indicated that the de-sized composites have stronger interface and better dy-namic mechanical properties as compared to the sized composites.
