Effects of Washing and Aging on Surface Properties of Copper-Nickel Coated Polyester Fabrics
Conductive fabrics has shown potentials to be applied in many industrial areas.Due to oxidation and abrasion, the performance of these fabrics might be shifted. Therefore,it is important to reveal the effects of abrasion and aging on long-term performance of conductive fabrics. In this study,copper-nickel plated polyester fabric was used as fabric model.Abrasion by washing and chemical oxidation by aging agent were applied on conductive fabric samples. It was revealed that the surface elec-tronical resistance of fabrics increased extensively after washing and chemical aging and the resistances were further raised dur-ing storage.Besides, the chemical aging process could also create a more hydrophobic surface. This work can provide the pre-diction on the serving lives of conductive fabrics and facilitate design of functionalized products from conductive fabrics.
