Preparation of Micro/Nano Helical Fibers by UV Irradiation
There has been enormous research interest in techniques that can produce helical fibers with micro/nano size struc-tures,due to the excellent performance of helical structure and wide potential applications.In this work,using the electro-spinning technique,elastic micro/nano fibers containing unsaturated carbon-carbon double bonds groups were prepared.And helices with different curvatures were obtained by irradiating stretched fibers with UV light to create an asymmetric deforma-tion between two sides of the fiber.The effects of different UV irradiation time and initial stretching on fiber morphology were studied as well.This work is helpful to understand the formation of helical structure,which is of great significance for nano-technology,biomolecular science,and introduces a richer choice of materials for the preparation of helical fibers.
