Mechanical and Acoustic Properties of Ramie Fabric/Epoxy Resin Flame Retardant Composites for Musical Instruments
Composite materials are usually flammable materials,but replacing natural materials with composite materials re-quires flame retardancy during transportation and use.Little has been reported about the effect of the flame retardant modifi-cation of NFRCs on their acoustic emission performance which is critically important for their application in musical instru-ments.In this paper,four types of ramie fiber-reinforced composites were prepared with and without flame retardant treat-ments and their thermal,flammability,mechanical and acoustic emission properties were tested and compared.It was found that after flame retardant modification,the mechanical properties of the composite material would be reduced.The 5-layer plain weave fabric has the best acoustic performance.
