Regarding the"Town and River Development Plan"Involving Oyodo River in Miyazaki Prefecture,Japan
In recent years,river improvement based on the natural environment and the local culture is required,as well as the flood control and water utilization function.This research clarifies the details,characteristics,and tasks of the"Miyakonojo District Town and River Development Plan"project taking place around the Oyodo River in Miyazaki prefecture,Japan.The aims of this research is to aid the gaining of expertise regarding the development of meaningful partnerships and cooperative efforts involved in the future administration of the river,urban planning,and urban development.This project is moderately successful at providing opportunities and"creating excuses"for people to pay attention to the river area that is usually given little consideration.Simultaneously working on river improvements and urban improvements is effective at actualizing the planned goal of improving the functionality and attractiveness of the city as a whole.Many of the participating members are representing their organizations,and the project is failing to attract notice from regular citizens,particularly the young,and get their opinions.In terms of the improvement plan,many unfeasible proposals were shelved.However,hard improvements like ease of movement and hydrophilic upgrades are easily achievable,while soft aspects like effective usage and maintenance management activities are difficult as expected.
