Pungryu:Transcendent Ways of Seeing Landscape
This paper examined the traditional Korean way of interpreting and enjoying their own landscapes by investigating the traditional views on nature,especially through the lens of pungryu culture.Pungryu is the ideally elegant way of enjoying nature,which accompanies the pursuit of becoming divine immortal by visiting beautiful landscapes in order to convey their religious reverence,and follow footprints of sages,which in turn was to be one with nature.This paper,therefore,aims to investigate a profound understanding of pungryu culture in the context of cultural and historical context,in order to explain the traditional values of nature which have framed Koreans'view of its landscapes.
