The Continuity of In Situ Cultural Landscape Heritage:A Brief Introduction to Lingyin's Preceding Tao and Then Buddhism
The heritage of in situ cultural landscapes is often time-honoured,resulting in rich historical and cultural layers and diversity,as well as cultural overlap and persistence. In the conservation work, the above features should be given due attention.Hangzhou Lingyin was originally the site of the former county seat of Qiantang in the Qin and Han Dynasties, but was later occupied by religious activities.Historically, the area was the site of Taoist activities and later Buddhist temples,a cultural change that was reflected in the cultural landscape heritage. This paper highlights the neglected cultural landscape features of the Taoist cultural heritage and calls for a deeper understanding and protection of the historical continuity of this cultural landscape heritage.
