Ocean Net:A Low-cost large-scale maritime communication architecture based on D2D communication technology

  Low-cost large-scale maritime communication problem has not been properly solved,due to the high cost of ocean base station c onstruction and satellite communication.D2D communication,which make full use of spectrum resources and create low-costcommunication opportunities among devices has recently attracted considerable attention.In this paper,we propose a novel low-cost arge-scale maritime communication architecture called OceanNet by taking advantage of D2D communication technology.We have performed extensive experiments on real-world trajectory data of wo-year including 7080 vessels.The experiment results demon-strate that OceanNet can achieve 67.91%average delivery ratio with average delay 40.98 minutes without the help of satellites and other specific auxiliary communication equipment,which has prelimi-narily verified the feasibility of the architecture.Finally,we give a further discussion of the future research directions in this field.
