ANALYSIS AND RESEARCH ON THE LONG-TERM PERFORMANCE OF GUANDI RCC DAM ON YALONG RIVER
Guandi Hydropower Station is situated on the part of the Yalong bordered by Xichang Municipality and Yanyuan County of Liangshan Prefecture.Its dam site is 80 km by road to the city of Xichang.It is the third of the five cascade projects in the lower reach of the river,and links with the downstream Ertan Hydropower Station and the upstream Jinping-Ⅱ Hydropower Station.The total installed capacity is 2.400 MW (4×600 MW) and the annual generation is about 11.78 TWh.The dam is a RCC (roller-compacted concrete) gravity dam with the maximum height of 168 m.The preparatory work of Guandi was officially commenced in October 2004,the reservoir impoundment succeeded in November 2011,its first unit was put into operation in March 2012,and all units had been put into operation by March 2013.In order to grasp the performance of dam in time and ensure its safe and stable operation,dam safety monitoring and its system were designed in the design stage,safety monitoring instruments were buried and systems of dam safety monitoring automatic acquisition as well as dam safety information management were constructed during the construction and operation periods,and long-term and dynamic analysis of dam performance was carried out based on the safety monitoring data during the operation period.The main monitoring items of dam include deformation,stress and strain,temperature,seepage,environmental variables,hydraulics and strong earthquakes.Except for the hydraulic and dynamic observation and external deformation observation,other monitoring items were integrated into the on-site automatic acquisition system.On this basis,basin dam safety information management system owning data statistical models was established,which achieved the online comprehensive management,analysis and automatic alarm of dam safety information obtained by monitoring and inspection,and improved the long-term performance monitoring of dam.Based on the above work,the long-term performance of the Guandi dam was analyzed in this paper.The research results show that since the reservoir impoundment the monitoring indexes of dam are within the normal range as a whole and the performance of dam is fine in general.The practice in Guandi could be used for reference in the safety operation monitoring of other similar dams.
