PRECOOLING EFFICIENCY IN SHAHRIKOR RCC DAM
For cracking prevention in RCC dams, measures such as precooling of fresh concrete or reduction of heat generation by pozzolan may be taken.Precooling of fresh concrete is costly and produce Co2,so economic and environmental calculations is necessary.Efficiency of precooling systems are not 100% and concrete absorbs heat from the ambient after mixing, during transportation and even after compaction.Precooling efficiency is a parameter which enables engineers to calculate precooling efficiency after compaction of RCC.It is evident that by consideration of heat absorption after mixing and before final compaction, real mix efficiency will be less. However, effective placing temperature is concrete temperature after it has been placed. In this paper, effect of two placing temperature 26℃ and 32℃ have been investigated on peak temperature in dam body.Calculations showed that by decreasing the placing temperature from 32℃ to 26℃,peak temperature in the dam body will be decreased only 1.13℃.This result showed that 32℃ placing temperature is more economical than 26℃.
