Occurrence Status of Plant-parasitic Nematodes in Shaanxi Province
Plant-parasitic nematodes (PPN) are one of the most economically damaging pathogens of all kinds of plants throughout the world. However, plant nematode disease is a typical soil-bome disease, and the migration ability of PPN is very weak. Thus, there are significant differences in the species of PPN and plant nematode diseases occurrence in different regions.Shaanxi province locates in the northwest of China, and has many different geographical features and different climate characteristics. With investigation,root-knot nematodes, cereal cyst nematodes and stem nematodes were the top three plant-parasitic nematodes causing serious economic losses in Shaanxi province. In this study,Meloidogyne incognita was identified as the dominant species of root-knot nematodes, posing a serious threat to the production of protected vegetables, open field vegetables, kiwifruit and Chinese herbal medicines in Shaanxi. And the biotype C of Heterodera aveane is the pathogenic cereal cyst nematode causing losses in wheat production in Shaanxi. There are two types of Ditylenchus destructor, type A and type B,causing diseases on sweet potato and potato, separately. With the development of economy and trade,Shaanxi province,as the starting point of the Belt and Road, has become an important trade port. And the risk of introduction of PPN is increasing. This study provided the current occurrence of PPN and related plant diseases in Shaanxi province. All these results would be helpful for guiding the prevention and control of plant nematode diseases in Shaanxi.
