Herbicide and Planting Density Impacts on Soil Nematodes Communities in Soybean Field

The effect of herbicides and planting density were studied on the feature of the nematode populations in the soybean fields in Jilin province,China. The results showed that six generas of the parasitic nematodes were observed in nematode communities of soybean field, including Helicotylenchus,Pratylenchus,Aphelenchoides,Scutellonema,Tylenchorhynchus and Tylenchulus, among which the dominant species were Helicotylenchus spp.and Aphelenchoides spp..The numbers of total nematodes was roughly equal not only in the herbicides areas to the farmers private plots but also in the herbicides areas before seedling and that after seedling. The numbers of total nematodes were higher in the low-density planting areas(average 239/200g soil)than in higher density areas(average 184/200g soil)in the herbicides areas. The non-plant-parasites were accounted for 53.85% and 38.11% among the soil nematodes without and with herbicide application respectively. The plant-parasites were observed in six generas and two-three generas among the soil nematodes without and with herbicide application respectively. Therefore, the herbicides had an obvious effect on killing saprophytic nematodes. The parasitic nematodes species decreased after the application of herbicides, showing that herbicides destroyed the diversity and richness of soil nematodes population.Under the application of herbicide, mainly Helicotylenchus and Aphelenchoides have changed the non-dominant species into dominant species in the soil. The results of the experiment confirmed that acetochlor can significantly lessen the numbers of bacterivores and fungivores(saprophytic nematodes),and decrease the species of plant-parasites,which showed that herbicides and higher density planting can decline the soybean field nematode community diversity and richness.
