Trend of Engineering Education in a New Era and the Future of Chinese Engineering Education
During the recent 19th CPC National Congress,topic has been raised that China will secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and strive for the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era,which sets clear direction for the future of China.To strengthen the economy,China requires a large amount of local talents,especially engineering talent who can innovate and create cutting edge products.This has set a higher standard for engineering education.This article explores how to meet the engineering talent needs in China.Firstly,this article studies the trend of international engineering education,especially engineering education in America (as representative of developed countries) and India (as representative of developing countries).Secondly,this article explores the priorities and contents of new engineering employee training conducted by Chinese enterprises,especially the focus and the rationale behind these programs design.Thirdly,this article discusses the emphasis of Chinese engineering education that will be on professionalism in the workplace;making sure graduates go off to work with an ability to translate technical knowledge into useful applications,to innovate,to function in multidisciplinary field,and to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.It is expected that this article will contribute to bringing engineering education in China to another level,fulfilling its mission in the new era of “2025 Made In China.
