Preparing Trainers for Future Manufacturing: Strategy and Methods to Acquiring Trans-disciplinary Capabilities
In response to Made in China 2025 strategy and the era of Industry 4.0,engineering education is in the process of becoming more towards an objective-oriented,product-driven,and project-based fashion. Thus, this new format of training course poses new requirement for trainers.Upon the implementation of Objective-based Education (OBE) reform, several factors hinder the development of college engineering education emerge, such as outdated understandings of industry, obsession with dependent development, outdated organizational structure, limited practical skills, students failing to appreciate the importance of engineering training, etc. These factors drag the ongoing development of education and impair the quality of the course delivered. We investigate into the latest methods of engineering skill training in mechanical engineering training and electronics engineering training for undergraduate students. Then we analyse the requirement posed for trainers when talent nurturing, technology development, and scientific research go hand in hand.A new framework for trainer development and training is proposed to support the delivering of high-end project-based learning content, the uprising education quality, and build a real engineering base that college students really like. From the experience in training trans-disciplinary trainer,we proposed a strategy for systematically building a faculty team with adequate capabilities for OBE and future industry.
