Research on Methods And Effects of Engineering Education Based On AR Assisted Education
Engineering education in universities and colleges pays great attention to practices and handson experience.It also emphasizes on bringing real-life industry problems as drivers for concepts learning and skills training.Augmented reality is a technology that can bring more intuitive experience,richer content,and more natural learning mode to students at a reasonable cost.We propose a new way to carry out engineering education with AR,combining 3D-model-based learning content with tangible educational equipment on site,to create a borderless experience students and teachers to interact with each other.The new method is assessed with its effectiveness in delivering 3D-model-based contents.The result shows that it boosts students interest in engineering concepts,increases excitement during the class,and has a positive effect on students long-term memory of the content.AR as a new way of human-system interaction can be used in engineering education to promote students understanding learning material,to empower teachers to approach 3D-based problems more efficiently and more effectively,and to accelerate the learning outcomes.AR in comparison to traditional paper-based or slides-based learning can expand the scope of education material that can fit in.
