Scaling-up of AnMBR technology: moving from wastewater to source of resources
In order to demonstrate the feasibility of Anaerobic Membrane Bioreactor (AnMBR) technology for urban wastewater (UWW) treatment,an industrial prototype has been designed and started-up.This AnMBR plant is built with industrial-scale hollow-fibre membranes modules and is fed with the effluent from the pre-treatment of the Alcazar de San Juan full-scale WWTP (Alcazar de San Juan,Ciudad Real,Spain). This research work aims to demonstrate the potential of AnMBR technology as altemative to traditional aerobic UWW treatment.Preliminary results indicated promising performances of both biological and filtration processes.
