Combined Anaerobic-Anoxic-Oxic processes for removal of nitrogen and phosphorus in domestic wastewater mixed with landfill leachate

  Landfill leachate has been treated in Datansha Sewage Treatment Plant with A2/O process in Guangzhou,south China for nearly five years.Recently,the pilot and engineering experiments were successfully carried out to reduce impulse loading to sewage treatment system.The results showed that: the combined treatment of domestic wastewater with landfill leachate had the best removal efficiencies of COD,NH4+-N and T-N in the case of the hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 11 h,dissolved oxygen (DO) of 3mg /L,the mixed-liquid return ratio (r) of 200% and sludge return ratio (R) of 80%.Removal efficiencies of COD,NH4+-N,T-N at optimal operation process increased 5.6%,9.8% and 5.3%,respectively during 2008-2009 compared with 2007.The average effluent concentrations of BOD5,COD,NH4+-N,T-N and T-P were 12.42 mg/L,29.91 mg/L,2.50mg/L,18.00mg/L and 0.50 mg/L respectively and could be kept below the discharge limit for Chinese Discharge Standard.
