Study on Closed Collision Bounce Characteristics and Contact Reliability of Contactors under Capacitive Load
When the contactor is closed under capacitive load, a large surge current will be generated, which will aggravate the collision bounce of the contact and cause a large energy arc.The contact reliability of the contactor will be affected seriously in this case.At present, the studies on contact reliability under capacitive load currently are mainly conducted on the contact materials, contact resistance and arc behaviors.Few publications concerning the collision bounce parameters, dynamic contact process and mechanism of contactors can be found. Therefore, in this paper, the closed dynamic contact process of the contactor under surge current is analyzed firstly. Then, based on the impact function method, the intermittent collision model between the movable contact and the static contact is constructed, and the dynamic model of the contact closure collision bounce for the contactor under capacitive load is established. After that, the theoretical calculation and experimental verification of the bouncing time, amplitude and numbers of the contact closed collision under surge current are carried out. Finally, the changing regularity of the bouncing characteristics for the contactor under different operating voltages and capacitance is analyzed in detail. The research results are of great value to improve the surge handling capability and contact reliability of contactors.
