Effects of Installation and Winding Distribution on False Detection in Open Type Residual Current Devices
Installation of residual current devices can effectively prevent electric fire accidents and electric shock hazards.False residual currents (FRCs) have been a fatal issue for the abnormal tripping of residual circuit breakers under heavy current conditions.Analytic method is utilized to illustrate the mechanism of the FRCs.The effects of the installation and the winding distribution are analyzed using the analytic model. The results show that the FRCs are sensitive to the position of supply conductors and the non-uniform winding distribution.Experimental tests are carried out to validate the analytic results with errors less than 5%.
