Research on Reliability in High Power Density Motor Driver

With the rapid development of motor drive system, motor drivers with more compact and higher power density design are needed for applications with limited board space. However, the high power density design can lead to heat dissipation, which may decrease the reliability of motor driver. In order to analyze the heat dissipation of high power density motor driver, firstly, the simplified topology of high power density motor drive system is established.Secondly, based the simplified high power density motor drive system, the power loss model of heat source is carried out. Finally, thermal simulation is conducted based on theoretical analysis. The simulations are presented to verify the correctness of theoretical analysis and lay theoretical foundation for analysis of heat dissipation in high power density motor driver.
