Research on Cogging Torque Reduction of Hub Motor for Electric Bicycle
To improve the reliability and efficiency of the hub motor for electric bicycle, the basic expression of cogging torque is given based on the energy method and Fourier series analysis method, and the factors affecting the cogging torque are analyzed, the cogging torque of a 54 slot and 48 pole table stick radial permanent magnet hub motor for electric bicycle was calculated by Ansoft finite element software.Finally, a method to weaken the cogging torque is proposed: optimizing the size of the auxiliary cogging of stator teeth by response surface method, which use the multiple quadratic regression equation fitting the functional relationship between factors and response values and the analysis of regression equation to find the optimal process parameters.The simulation results show that this method effectively reduces the cogging torque of the hub motor, and after optimization, the peak-to-peak value of it decreases from 4.0091N.m to 2.1594N.m, down by 46%, which improves the reliability of the hub motor.
