Study on the Effect of Ag Layer Thickness of Composite Contacts on Electric Life
As one of the most critical parts of relay,contact has a significant impact on the electric life.In order to save cost, Ag/Cu composite contacts, even Ag/Cu/Ag three composite contacts, are often used by relay manufacturers.The silver layer thickness of Ag/Cu composite contact often fluctuates due to the influence of upsetting process.In this paper, the failure analysis was carried out with one type automobile relay after dectrical life testing, and the electrical life results of the relays using welding-contact and single-contact were also consulted.The influence of silver layer thickness at the edge of composite contact on the electrical life was confirmed.By improving the shape and thickness of the silver layer, the electrical life of relay was significantly promoted.
