Arc Fault Feature Extraction Method Based on Maximum Overlapping Discrete Wavelet Packet
Air arc faults are a type of electrical fault that occurs in aircraft and are difficult to be detected by thermal protection circuit breakers and solid-state power controllers that are commonly assembled in aircraft.Once the arc fault continues to occur, the high temperature released will quickly ignite the combustible material near the fault point, causing the aircraft to catch fire, some systems in the aircraft fail, and even cause a fire that causes the aircraft to crash out of control.Accurate detection of arc faults in avionics systems is particularly important.Based on the Hilbert spectrums time-frequency analysis capability, this paper focuses on the characteristics of both traditional wavelet packet transform and maximum overlap discrete wavelet packet transform.Due to better time-frequency resolution and time-frequency aggregation, the maximum overlap discrete wavelet packet transform is used as a method to extract the characteristics of the loop current signal.According to the feature extraction results, the feature quantity extracted by the method can accurately distinguish the normal operation, transient arc fault and steady arc fault in the line.
