Study on Lifetime of Electromagnetic Relay between Resistive Load and Inductive Load
Based on theory analysis, it is generally believed that the lifetime of electromagnetic relays under resistive load are better than that under same level current inductive load, but we found that the lifetime of some relay products the results were inverse.In this paper, the relays with different current level were selected as the study object.Through analyzed the temperature rise, morphology of the contact (after lifetime) and the product structure, it was found that the product structure greatly determines the difference of lifetime between resistive load and inductive load.And verified that by reducing the load current or adjusting the relay overtravel could reduce or even reverse the difference of lifetime between the resistive load and the inductive load.The whole study is helpful for product design, product performance evaluation and customer applications.
