LASER ABLATION INDUCED TOUGHNESS ENHANCEMENT IN TWIN CRYSTAL COPPER
Free surfaces and inner defects (such as grain boundary) facilitate initiating of melting. The grain boundary can affect the toughness of polycrystal Copper. In this paper, the melting copper nanoparticles have been studied by a model that combines two-temperature and molecular dynamics methods. After laser ablation,a 45-degree grain orientation presents an unusual toughness behaviour. The higher failure strain of the twin crystal copper with laser ablation than it has not.It can be found that the dislocations and grain boundary interaction paly the main role.It gives a new view that the laser can enhance the toughness of Cu crystal.
