Adjustment and Testing of an S-Ku Bands Tightly Coupled Dipole Array

  In this paper,a 8×8 S-Ku bands tightly coupled dipole array(TCDA)is realized.It is based on the 3-18GHz periodic unit which was proposed by Markus H.Novak et al.The layout of periodic unit is retained with parameters are adjusted.Microstrip power divider,structural fasterner and SMP coaxial connector were added to the simulation model of periodic unit.The active VSWR of periodic unit was less than 2.5 from 2.9GHz to 19.4GHz.The test results of its 8×8 scale array show that the active VSWR of each array element is less than 2.8 from 4.5GHz to 18GHz and less than 4.3 from 3GHz to 4.5GHz.The array radiation efficiency is greater than 70%from 3GHz to 5GHz,greater than 85%from 5GHz to15GHz,and greater than 70%from 15GHz to 18GHz.
