A Near-field Perforated Dielectric Phase-Correcting Structure for Fabry-Perot Resonator Antennas
A perforated dielectric phase correcting structure(PCS)for increasing gain of the Fabry-Perot resonator antennas(FPRAs)is presented. In the near field of the typical FPRA,the aperture phase distribution is strongly non-uniform,which significantly affects its radiation performances including gain and aperture efficiency. In order to transform such phase distribution to a nearly uniform phase distribution,a perforated dielectric PCS was proposed. The phase correction is controlled by changing the radius of the air-drilled holes in the superstrate placed over the FPRAs at the design frequency of 11GHz.A good impedance matching is achieved over 10.8-11.5GHz and the antenna also achieves a 5.9-dBi gain enhancement at 11GHz.
